Meet Sage...

Sage a 5 yo female German Shepherd that was abandoned with two other dogs. Luckily, the shelter learned of their demise and contacted the German Shepherd Rescue. Sage, unfortunately also, had heartworms. H.E.A.R.T. is assisting with her heartworm treatment by donating $250 from the proceeds of the candy jars so she has a second chance. Sage is a sweet dog who longs for attention. She is a fast learner, despite the neglect and wishes to please. She has been great around other dogs, both big and small. Meet Hope...


Hope is a 3-4 yr mixed breed female that had been a backyard tie-out for quite awhile. She exhibited signs of abuse. Her short escape from her roped life ended when she was hit by a car and left to die. She had no tags. A Good Samaritan brought her to the Animal Hospital of Avon but could not afford the treatment and left her at the clinic. Hope had a broken pelvis, a small mammary tumor, a heart murmur and was heartworm positive. The vet took sympathy on Hope and started her treatment for Heartworms. She has given her all her shots, spayed her and will remove the tumor. Dr. Michael is also fostering her through her treatment until a forever home is found. H.E.A.R.T. is using the proceeds of the candy jars to assist Dr. Michael with Hope’s Heartworm medicine at the vet’s cost. $250 will be donated to assist Hope have a second chance. Meet Luka...


Luka is a 2 yo female weim that was someone’s pet, who somehow became a stray. She had a collar, but no tags or microchip. Poor Luka roamed the streets for food and shelter, desperate for help but people looked away! Luckily, she was picked up by the Indianapolis Animal Control and Louisville Weim Rescue was contacted. Luka was immediately seen at night by the emergency vet and was comforted by volunteers. She weighed only 27 pounds! Heartworm, parasite and parvo tests were negative, and luckily, her kidneys still functioned. She was unable to hold down any food and had a bloody diarrhea. The proceeds of the candy jars allowed H.E.A.R.T. to assist $100 in emergency medical care from Indianapolis Animal control. Meet Bullet...


Bullet is the sweetest little 1 ½ yo pitbull mix who was shot several times in the front leg with a 45 caliber pistol and then, run over by a car breaking his back leg in two places. The bullet was surgically removed. Casa del Toro Pitbull rescue is trying to raise funds to save the leg, by having it repaired surgically rather than having it amputated. H.E.A.R.T. is donating $500 from the proceeds of the candy jars to assist with his care, so that he can recover and find his forever home. Meet Fezzik...

Fezzik is a 4 yo stray Bullmastiff who was rescued by Mended Hearts Indy from the Indianapolis Animal Control. His doom at the shelter, was evident because of positive heartworms caused from a mosquito bite. Fazzik is a gentle giant who constantly wags his tail and adores his Kong toy. He loves people and joins in wonderfully with his 6 foster brothers and sisters of varying sizes and breeds. Mended Hearts Indy Rescue felt he deserved his second chance and is requesting help with the $400 medical bill. Due to a shortage of heartworm medicine, the rescues are scrambling for treatments and thus, paying higher prices. Meet Bentley...

Bentley is an 18 month Great Pyrenees who was allowed to run loose for days at a time. Due to his irresponsible owner, he was hit by a car and broke two legs, and was found in a nearby barn three days after the accident. The vet told IGPR, this was the 3rd dog the owner had brought in that had been hit by a car and euthanized. Bentley has a wonderful, gentle temperament and has never growled or snapped even though he is in significant pain. IGPR rescued him and had surgery done on September 8tth. Bentley is recovering now in his loving foster home. His surgery was $3400 and IGPR needs assistance to pay the bill. Meet Mojo...

Mojo was brought to Our Lil'Bit of Heaven Animal Sanctuary & Rescue the first weekend of August when a farmer caught him trying to steal some chickens. Mojo had been recently shaved and was apparently being starved on purpose!
He is a beautiful full-blooded Siberian husky who is roughly 2 years old. Due to his starvation, his kidneys were damaged and will now have special dietary & medical needs for the rest of his life. Mojo is also at least 30 pounds underweight, so his recovery will be a long journey.
H.E.A.R.T. donated $250.00 from the proceeds of our candy jar sales to assist with his recovery.

Meet Marley-a spunky, 2 1/2 yr old rescued English bulldog who was found to have a medical condition known has Ectopic Ureters that makes her incontinent. IBR is working hard to raise funds for a $3180 surgery to correct this condition so that she is deemed adoptable. Marley is a smart, happy, dog that knows many tricks but her incontinence limits her adoption potential. Meet Reece-a 1 1/2 yo Brindle pitbull that was found as a stray and taken to Animal Control. Reece is a sweetheart with everyone, people and dogs alike, but was suffering a severe ear infection that caused him to cry every time anything touched it. H.E.A.R.T. stepped in to pay for the ear treatment. Reece will soon be going to Don’t Bully my Breed Rescue to be fostered while he awaits his forever home. Meet Jolie-a 3 yo emaciated English Pointer that had been dumped at the Animal Control shelter after hours. The poor dog was found to have Lyme disease caused from a tick. H.E.AR.T. paid $83 for the evaluation and bloodwork. The Illinois Bird Dog Rescue immediately picked up Jolie and she was started on antibiotics. Jolie will be fostered by the rescue while she heals, gains weight and finds her new forever family. The proceeds of our candy jars allowed H.E.A.R.T. to assist with her care that helped save her life.

Meet Dale, a 5-6 yr old Brittany Spaniel, found as a stray by Animal Control and suffering with a severe ear infection. He is a sweet dog who loves people and is great with the other dogs at AC despite the painful ear condition. However, Dale was to be put down because of the ear infection until H.E.A.R.T. stepped in to pay $89.99 for his treatment from the proceeds of our candy jars. Dale is now under foster care with the American Brittany Rescue while he heals and awaits his forever home.

Meet Reny, a 7yr neglected male poodle rescued from animal control. Reny was found under all that hair to also have heartworms, which decreased his adoption chances. HEART for Dog Rescue saved him from an ultimate fate and he is now undergoing treatment and loving the care and attention from his foster family. H.E.A.R.T. donated $175 to assist the rescue with heartworm treatment and $40 for grooming costs.

Meet Sadie-a 4 yr pug near death’s doorstep with pancreatitis requiring plasma treatments. Kentuckiana Pug Rescue has Sadie in foster care, well and ready for a home. HEART donated $250 from the candy jar proceeds to assist with her care.

Mabel is a 6 yr Great Dane who was a breeding dog. When her owners no longer had any use for her, they abandoned her and her last 4 pups at an empty warehouse. In addition to heartworms, Mabel was infested with whip worms and had a serious case of kennel cough. Most of her teeth are worn down or have fallen out due to her years and years of breeding. But despite her past life, Mabel has adjusted very well in her foster home and to a life of love. HEART donated $225 to assist with Mabel’s treatment through the proceeds of the candy jars.
