The shelters and rescues are overflowing. Cats & dogs are dying every day. Many are sick or injured, and stand little chance of being placed in a home.
HEART’s mission is to assist dogs at shelters, rescues and/or relinquished pets at veterinary offices receive treatment in order to become adoptable. The money for treatment assistance is raised through the candy jar proceeds and donations. We place candy jars at local businesses and rely on the “honor system” for people to place money in the jars as they take the candy. H.E.A.R.T. is not breed specific. We will help any rescue twice within the same year with a donation of up to $500 each time (depending on the cost of treatment and amount we currently have available). We do require the dog be adoptable after treatment. If you would like to request help, please send an explanation of the dog’s condition, a picture of the dog, and a short bio to HEART_dogs@sbcglobal.net. We place the bio and picture on our candy jars to help raise funds and will also post on our website with the rescue’s contact information in order to promote the dog. We do ask for an update when the dog has been adopted and would like to have an updated picture for our website.
Candy jars are located at the businesses listed on our Supporters page and donations are also accepted via Paypal:

|I looked at the caged animals in the shelter…the cast-offs of human society.
I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal. And I was angry.
“God,” I said, “this is terrible! Why don’t you do something?” God was silent for a moment and then He spoke softly.
“I have done something,” he replied, “I created you.”
